Trailered my dory skiff over to Sausalito yesterday for the Maritime Day Festival at Galilee Harbor. First time on the 'new' galvanized trailer, which sits a bit higher than the HF trailer and required getting rather damp to get it launched.

Launched at Clipper Cove and had a nice reach over to Galilee, then had to tack in and finally row to the dock. Lee Caldwell, an active TSCA member and oarsman, was rowing a spanking-new Rangeley fishing boat (perhaps the Lake Boat model?), built by a fellow whose name I've forgotten.

Here's the builder taking her out solo for the first time -

I got lured into the dighy race, about which the less said the better. Had WAY too much canvas up after the wind doubled in strength and dunked two dinghies and blew a lot of tents over at the festival. My boat ended up partially full of water, and I flogged my way to a nearby ramp and pumped it dry before rowing back to the event. Really need crew for stuff like that!
Saw a Forumite with his lovely Whisp at the ramp as I was rowing out, but didn't get any photos.
The Maritime Festival was also a flea market, lots of interesting nautical stuff, live music, fish and chips, and some boats on display.

This lovely Swampscott was built by another guy (whose name I've also forgotten) at North Bay Boatworks.

He also built the skiff that was being raffled off. Very nice detailing -

Here he is standing at the rear portside holding the red cup, partially obscured by the guy in the white canvas hat -

The Arquez School had a building demo going, with students roughing out oars -

This boat was brought out from back East and donated to a museum here -

Here's Lee chatting with the Army Corps of Engineers woman, with Galilee Harbor (and creek) in the background. He then gave me a quick tour of the houseboats and docks.

Here is a lovely Chamberlain dory skiff -- the fanciest I've seen -

Lee promised me a tour of the North Bay Boatworks, where he rents a slip for his various dorys, prams, etc, and also where he spends a lot of time. Here he readies his pram for the return trip - not far but it was really getting windy.

Took these shots as I walked down the dinghy dock to take my boat out -

We rowed past a lot of docks and several megayachts, most of which Lee had been aboard. Then we wiggled our way into the dock at North Bay Boatworks. My jib of course blew out of the ties, making rowing extra fun...

The shop is in an old Liberty Ship building area, and certainly is picauresque!

Had to make it home for a wake for the next door neighbor, so I rowed the short distance to Clipper Cove and the commercial ramp. Lee walked over to help me pull my boat out, and kindly took this photo before I took it down and hauled it home. A fun and informative day.

Wow, Great pics as always Thorne. We were over at Fort Mason at a wedding reception. Lots of sail on the bay. Beautiful day for the Sausalito, Richardson Bay was bathed in sunshine as the fog covered us.

Thorne, That looks like Anton Hotner. I know he built the Charlie Merrill dory.

Yup, that name rings a bell. Thanks!
Now to find the name of the guy who built the Rangeley...

Looks like you had a great day. Am I the only one whose eye is drawn to the little wooden boats, rather than the giant plastic ones?
