A new hatch for Oh Joy

I started working on the hatches for Oh Joy. I picked up a 9'X14"X1-1/4" board of Honduran Mahogany, pricey stuff. This is the forward hatch I'm working on. The hatch a PO had built wasn't built of mahogany and was 5/8" thick as well as the frame not being jointed, just butt glued so it broke one day when I sat my 225 #'s on it to work on something.

This is the frame (I haven't cut the bottom curve of the athwartships frames yet) after roughing it in.

I'm quickly relearning forgotten tricks learned long ago as a cabinetmaker and was surprised at what skills I actually retained. It's been a loooong time.

Nice simple join.Hey did you fix the rot problem in the deck, or should I go look for it where you were posting it?
The pieces that make up the lid. Are they too be angled down the edges running fore/aft so as to ensure a tight ass fit all the way through?

Yep, they'll be angled so the faces match up tight. I was thinking a using a biscuit joiner for those pieces. I'm gonna use a bronze screw up through the corners of the frames from below and was thinking of screwing the top slats down with bronze countersunk screws topped with bungs.

I'm looking to get an available boathouse so I can R&R some deck pieces the right way, with the house and bulwarks off. I cut out that rotted stringer and am scarfing in a new section. I can't get an 8:1 like I want so I'll bolt it together at the join along with the epoxy. It's through bolted to the ribs every 10" anyway so it won't go anywhere.
